💡 Gaining knowldege via Understanding vs Memorisation
How do I prepare for the CAPM/PMP exam?
How much information do I need to memorize?
I receive this question every day.
And here is my response:
Required information for both CAPM/PMP are huge. Enormously large amount of data. But, do I need to know all of it 100%?
The pragmatic answer is NO, why?
✅ PMI cannot ask you about everything. There are "only" 150 questions(CAPM) and 180 questions(PMP).
✅ Exam based on the latest ECO - Exam Content Outline and not the latest PMBOK out there. Every task in the ECO will be tested on the exam. Therefore you need to put lots of emphasys to understand those.
✅ Make sure you spend half of your preparation time on practicing questions. It is a "skill" to answer questions correctly and remember you cannot learn everything by heart.
✅ Focus on the mindset aka logic, why "things" are working the way they work, instead of "i disagree, real life we do it differently" - the more resistant you are, more difficult it will get to comprehend and pass
