✍️ Personal note: AI has a long way to go
So many Project Managers talk about AI in Project Management, how our days will transform to have more "time" for "meaningful" project work.
In my opinion, AI has a long way to go in Project Management.
You simply "keep moving forward" for now.
Do not wait for the "magic" bullet to solve your
->budget issues
->stakeholder challenges
->risk problems
Try to add value.
💼 Does goal and purpose mean the same thing?
by Rahul Pai
I came across a very interesting question by one of the professionals on LinkedIn in one of the comments
Here it is -
🧭 Is it necessary to list "have purpose" when "set goals" is already listed?
And this question isn't a silly one at all. It’s a thoughtful one.
Many of us out there equate setting goals with having purpose i.e. setting goals = having purpose.
However, the two are fairly different.
Setting goals is about the "what you want to achieve".
It’s the target or goal or a dream to achieve something, to reach somewhere, to aspire to become someone.
It's like a dart board for the darts. It's like the goal post for the football team.
Having purpose, on the other hand, is about the "whys you want to achieve what you want to achieve".
It's the motive behind the action, the intent behind the planning.
It's like knowing why you want to throw the dart on the dart board (and not anywhere else)
It's like knowing why you want to get the ball past the goal post.
🧭 Which one is important?
According to me, both are important - the whats as well as the whys.
The whats keep you focused.
The whats will keep you away from distractions.
The whats will help you measure progress & deviations.
The whys keep you fuelled.
The whys will keep you motivated.
The whys will make you show up, each day, & act to achieve the whats.
🧭 What happens if one or both of it is missing?
Without the "whats", you are aimless.
You can shoot the dart in the dark without knowing where it’s going.
You can hit the ball all over the space without knowing where it is actually intended to land.
You can put efforts without knowing what you are putting efforts for.
You are as good as lost; not knowing where you are going.
Without the "whys", you are missing the desire, the fire within.
You can give up easily when you see no or delayed results.
You would need someone to push you towards what you want to achieve.
You would find no attachment or interest in the "whats to achieve"
Without both, you are completely lost & in serious trouble.
So, do you have your "whats" and the "whys"?
